and small molecules. Job Summary (Primary function) The Senior
Director, Computational Biology, is a scientific and strategic
leader within the Computational Discovery organization. This role
oversees a team of computational biologists responsible for driving
biological insight across the R&D pipeline, from target
identification and validation to translational biomarker discovery,
patient stratification, genomics analysis, and clinical data
integration. Working in close partnership with Discovery Biology,
Translational Sciences, Clinical Operations, external
collaborators, and platform technology groups, this leader will
shape and execute scientific and analytic strategies that enable
the discovery and development of transformative therapies in
oncology, dermatology, and related disease areas. The position
reports to the Vice President, Computational Discovery. Essential
Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities) Strategic & Scientific
Leadership Lead and grow the Computational Biology function,
setting scientific direction, establishing best practices, and
ensuring high-quality, innovative analyses that advance portfolio
decision-making. Partner with discovery and translational program
teams to design computational strategies for target ID, MOA
elucidation, patient stratification, and biomarker hypothesis
development. Serve as a thought leader in genomics, multi-omics
integration, and biological modeling; bring forward emerging
technologies, platforms, and analytical approaches. Define the
strategic vision for the use of AI/ML approaches in biological data
analysis, including opportunities for advanced modeling, multimodal
data integration, and predictive analytics across discovery and
translational programs. Program Support & Execution Drive target
identification and validation efforts by integrating public and
private multi-omics datasets, functional genomics screens, pathway
modeling, and literature/knowledge graph analyses to prioritize
high-value therapeutic hypotheses. Oversee analysis,
interpretation, and integration of diverse data types (genomics,
transcriptomics, single-cell, proteomics, real-world data, etc.) to
generate actionable insights for research and clinical programs.
Partner with clinical and translational teams to drive reverse
translation from clinical studies, including identifying factors
underlying patient response, resistance mechanisms, and biomarker
refinement. Guide the application of ML in biomarker discovery,
including feature selection, model validation, and biological
interpretation in support of translational hypotheses Collaborate
with clinical teams, regulatory, and external partners to support
biomarker plans, CDx-relevant analytics, and data packages for
regulatory submissions as needed, and contribute to
decision-making. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership Build
strong partnerships across R&D to ensure seamless integration
of computational biology, data science, and experimental teams;
advocate for AI/ML literacy and responsible use across stakeholder
groups. Represent Computational Biology in internal committees and
external collaborations; communicate complex outputs in clear,
biologically meaningful terms to audiences ranging from bench
scientists to executives. Mentor team members in computational
biology and AI/ML approaches; support career development and
recruitment of talent with emerging skills in modern computational
methods. Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education,
work experience, and competency) Education & Experience Ph.D.,in
Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Cancer
Biology, Genetics, or a related field. 10 years of industry or
academic experience with a strong record of scientific
accomplishment in computational biology, oncology/immuno-oncology,
or translational science. 5 years of leadership experience
Demonstrated success in leading scientific teams and delivering
impactful insights into drug discovery and development programs.
Technical & Scientific Expertise Deep expertise in bioinformatics,
multi-omics analysis, and biological interpretation. Strong
familiarity with biomarker discovery, translational science, and
clinical genomics workflows. Experience with modern AI/ML
approaches for biological data required. Leadership & Behavioral
Attributes High emotional intelligence and a collaborative
leadership style; proven ability to build trust and work seamlessly
across diverse functional groups. Ability to manage and prioritize
multiple projects in a fast-paced R&D environment. Passion for
understanding human biology and advancing novel therapeutics.
