Job Description:
Perform a broad range of quantitative analysis in support of
consulting projects that involve electric power system models, fuel and
power forecasting, and electric utility resource planning. Support
the management and oversight of some of the Energy practice’s power
market models, particularly production cost models and utility
portfolio tools. Author market reports and prepare expert energy market and
economic analysis for electric utilities, investors, private law
practitioners, others involved in asset transactions, regulator proceedings and
other litigation. Conduct industry, market structure, and
competitor-positioning studies. Produce energy industry research summaries and assist
in the development of presentation findings. Work closely with senior
staff and clients to develop original analytic approaches to energy
industry issues. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses. Research new
areas of business development while contributing to the company's
business development efforts. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance,
Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field (willing to accept
foreign equivalent) and two (2) years of experience performing
electricity market assessments. Skill Sets: • Demonstrated Expertise (DE) managing and analyzing data
related to fuel prices (coal and natural gas), thermal and renewable power
plants, electric power demand, including energy efficiency and demand
side management impacts, environmental policy and emission markets,
and electric transmission. • DE utilizing Aurora XMP or similar power market dispatch tools
to perform energy modeling to forecast electricity market prices
based on knowledge of energy and capacity markets. • DE analyzing electricity market model results to assess
long-term energy market trends and support utility resource planning
strategies. • DE summarizing production cost modeling results, including the
impacts of evolving environmental policies, new technology advances, and
changing energy market and regulatory structures. • DE in problem solving and presenting complex analyses
